| Three New Hot Spots in Albania |

The hot spot project in Albania will remediate/ clean up three new hot spot sites – Since funds required for full remediation of Bajza site have been less than anticipated in the original programme/project document the remaining funds will be used for further interventions that meet the set/agreed criteria. Based on the UNEP/UNDP ‘emergency risk reduction at tailings dams’ project, 3 sites have been identified at Balez, Rreshen and Reps for priority actions, due to the imminent risks they pose to human and environmental health and infrastructure. After submitting the proposition for the new intervention sites by Regional PMU and UNDP Albania team, the donor approved the three new hotspots sites on July 7th2009. |
