Art exhibition puts environmental issues in the spotlight |

Page 1 of 2 Think Green to Have a Future, that was the theme of the first painting/photographic exhibition organized between UNDP and students of the Fine Arts Department at the National Academy of Arts, on December 4 2008.
The event was organized to raise awareness of environmental hotspots in Albania. Marin Marika claimed first prize in the exhibition for his computer generated vision of the environment; powerfully reminding us of how our future will change if we don't learn to respect the nature environment.The winners were announced during the opening ceremony of the exhibition in the presence of the Minister of Environment, Forests and Water Administration, Mr. Lefter Xhuveli, UNDP Albania Country Director, Mr. Norimasa Shimomura, Vice Ambassador of the Embassy of the Netherlands, Ms. Ardi Stoios-Braken as well as members of the faculty at the National Academy of Arts, students, representatives of media and environmental NGOs.The preliminary round of the competition took place between October 22 and November 22 and involved 60 students from which 15 finalist were chosen from a jury composed of well known Albanian artists. The young artists used a variety of different styles, but all succeeded in conveying the message: Think Green to Have a Future. First, Second, Third and an Encouragement Prize were awarded to the winners on the day.
